Patina

Patinas are fast-drying pigments dissolved in a solvent system and based on an alcohol carrier. Application: spray an effect layer onto furniture. After drying, a top coat must still be applied. Patinating is a method of giving a paint layer an aged appearance, which can be achieved using various products and techniques.

Applicability/Market

Patina is an additional technique you can use to create a beautiful effect — for an extra weathered, characterful look. Patinating is a time-honoured application that painters have been using for many years. In the current era of industrial furniture and retro applications, it is a wonderful complement. Patina sits between two lacquer layers and adds greater depth to the grain of the wood.

Variants

Patina ESD is a fast-drying, sprayable patina. Rustikal is a wipe-on patina that dries more slowly, allowing time to create various effects. As with ESD, a top coat is applied after drying.
